A visit last week from Sciencetellers had the Eden Park school community mesmerized and ready to kick off a very science-themed Reading Week.
Designed to bring stories alive while exploring science in a very hands-on manner, Sciencetellers combines live storytelling with exciting scientific experiments performed by the students themselves. Presenter and storyteller Ken Nichols facilitated the program.
Nichols told the students the story “Dragons and Dreams,” and combined the elements of the story with what he said were “two of the coolest areas of science,” fire and ice. Using props that included dry ice and ethanol, he told the story while engaging the students in six experiments and a grand finale.
“This was the best assembly I’ve ever seen,” sixth-grader Nadya Lehnert told Nichols at the conclusion of the show.
