Glenn Miller Orchestra coming to Park Theater

The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring their classic concert sound to the Park Theater in Cranston on March 9. Seventy-five years after the Orchestra was originally formed, they continue to play high-energy jazz.
Originally formed in 1938 by Glenn Miller, the Orchestra stakes claim to many chart-topping hits such as "In the Mood," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "At Last" and "(I've Got a Gal In) Kalamazoo." Hollywood played a crucial role in boosting the group's popularity by releasing "The Glenn Miller Story" on the big screen.
While the band has changed leadership many times since the disappearance of Glenn Miller in 1946, the present Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since.
For their Rhode Island show, the band, led by Nick Hilscher, will showcase their signature sound of trumpets, saxophones, clarinets and flutes.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. Tickets are priced at $22 and $27, and are currently on sale. Tickets are available by calling the Box Office directly at 467-7275 or through the Theater's secure website at www.ParkTheatreRI.com.

Did you know?

The Anglo Saxons called February 'Sol-monath' (cake-month) because cakes were offered to the gods during that month. February was also known to the Saxons as 'sprout-kale' from the sprouting of cabbage or kale. Having only 28 days in non-leap years, February was known in Welsh as 'y mis bach' - the little month.
In Shakespeare's time about 400 years ago, the second month of the year was called 'Feverell.' In Isaac Newton's time, 100 years later, it had become 'Februeer.' The modern name, February, is only about a hundred years old. (Source: February Fun Facts)
