Over 400 items were auctioned off Saturday, June 23 at Bruneau and Co. Auctioneers in Cranston. Their Estate Antiques & Art Auction started off with a 1962 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I - estimated to go in the $30,000 to $50,000 range - and was sold to an anonymous bidder on the phone for $44,000 -  A very good bargain price.

The car had been delivered to Bruneau's auction gallery at 63 Fourth Avenue from its CT owner and was driven into the gallery where it took its spot behind the auctioneer for the entire event. Travis Landry was the auctioneer who led the auction for that item, which went in under five minutes to a bidder who was bidding over the phone, along with an in-gallery bidder.

Specifics on the Rolls-Royce were “England,1962 -One of 2,417 built from 1959 to 1962, velvet green over sand left hand drive originally purchased by Charles Polis, wine importer of Maastricht, Holland February 24th, 1962. 380 cubic inch V8 overhead valve engine with hydraulic tappets and cast aluminum block and heads paired with a GM four-speed automatic transmission. Special options include air conditioning (York compressor), split bench seat, safety belts, Marchal post lamps, extra high frequency horns, and elongated sun visors. Finely restored and exceptionally maintained, a true collector example. Accompanied with documentation on the service history of the car. Body number CT.5159, chassis number LSAE.143, engine number 71 ES.”

Originally purchased by Charles Polis, Maastricht, Holland, February 24, 1962, deaccessioned from Yankee Candle Car Museum, MA, 1990-2002, Personal collector car of Dr. Ingahsaeng Supat, Fairfield, CT and now to a new owner.

A few items later, it was all about "Tiffany", as three items were sold all over estimate. A Tiffany Studios Poppy Twisted Vine Table Lamp, estimated at $30,000 to $50,000 sold for a solid $100,000 (plus handling and other fees), followed by $16,000 for matching table screens. Another bidder won an online bid for a 10" Tiffany Studios Paperweight Favrile Glass Vase for $55,000.

The entire auction was completed in four hours, and included many original works of art, furniture, sculpture, and select jewelry pieces, including rugs and antiquities from Belcourt Castle, Newport.
