Teacher Appreciation Week is a celebration of faculty and staff members across the country who are giving their all, day in and day out.
During this year’s celebration, the students in Sheri Brown-Hamel’s Project Respect Club at Hugh B. Bain Middle School created a special way of letting the faculty, staff and administration know that they “rock” at what they do each and every day.
The students painted approximately 100 rocks, each decorated with a positive theme to show faculty and staff know just how much they were appreciated for all their hard work.
“The rocks were painted and created for all staff in the Bain building, including teachers, teacher assistants, behavior technicians, guidance staff, secretaries and administrators,” Brown-Hamel said.
According to Brown-Hamel, the project was a spin-off of a project that was completed last year with students in mind,
“Last year we had written positive affirmations on Post-it notes for all students and they were placed on their lockers,” she said. “This year, we decided to do an initiative for the adults.”
Each rock was placed in a lunch bag, and then the bags were left in the teachers’ classrooms or in the staff members’ respective locations for a positive boost during a special week. This was followed up by a teacher appreciation video as well.
