The Cranston Herald’s Athlete of the Week is West basketball player Kyla Buco. After a strong debut season as a freshman, Buco has been even better as a sophomore and has been the engine behind West’s dominant start on offense this winter. Buco continued to roll last week when she combined for 47 points in the team’s pair of wins that helped propel it to first place in Division I. Buco put up 37 points in the team’s win against Juanita Sanchez and hit seven 3-pointers, six coming in the decisive third quarter rally. She also combined for five assists and six steals.
