All proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Cranston charities.
Panera Bread is once again partnering with the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation during its 16th annual Pink Ribbon Bagel promotion. Throughout the month of October, to commemorate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a portion of proceeds from all Pink Ribbon Bagels sold in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts will go to the Pawtucket-based non-profit.
This is the fifth consecutive year that proceeds have benefited the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, whose mission is to provide education, access to wellness resources and support programs to those touched by cancer. Pink Ribbon Bagels are baked fresh daily in each Panera Bread café, formed by hand into a ribbon shape, and feature dried cherries, cranberries, vanilla, honey and brown sugar.
Bring the family to the Cranston Police & Fire "Hot on Yer Heels" 5k on Oct. 22 at 9:30 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Jim Pagano Foundation. Joining in this year are IBPO Local 301, Tasca Automotive, Deprete Engineering, Sweenor’s Chocolates, Caputi Law, Falvey Linen and Cranston Municipal Employees Credit Union. This is a USATF Sanctioned Event. Chip Timing by The TRIMOM Timing Company.
The Kids Fun Run begins the day at 9:30 a.m. with a 9:40 start to the 5K.
Event Entry Fees are $25 per individual; Kids Fun Run are $10 per child; Open Team are $25. Add $10 for all in-person registrations. Registration packets may be found on Oct. 20 a Lululemon from 4 to 6 p.m.; Oct. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at New Balance, Oct. 22 at 7 to 9:15 a.m. at the Gazebo in Garden City. All event parking is free.
All athletes receive an event t-shirt and there will be a t-shirt and finisher medal for the Kids Fun Run.
The RI Shriners will host Halloween Havoc on Oct. 27 at the RI Shriners, 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston.
Thousands of Skull Eggs will be hidden outside and filled with great prizes. If you have enjoyed our famous Adult Easter Egg Hunt, then you know the fun we will have.
There will be cash prizes for Best Individual Costume & Best Group Costume and you can also enjoy Tarot Card Readers & Mediums along with Awesomely Spooky items available for you to purchase.
There will be a cash bar available plus raffles and a DJ for dancing. $30 admission price includes pasta dinner that will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (Courtesy of the Legion of Honor Unit) & Skull Hunt that starts Promptly at 8 p.m.
The event is for age 21 with proper ID required.

Every Friday at the Auburn library for adults will be held Color and Calm from 4 to 5:45 for a relaxing start to the weekend. Library provides coloring books, mandalas, colored pencils and markers. Soothing music and herbal and decaf teas. They have recently changed the hours to add more time for coloring and relaxation. No reservations required.
Woodridge Congregational Church, located at 546 Budlong Rd., will hold their Annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 21 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot. All are welcome and popcorn will be sold for $1.

Diabetes Prevention Program will be held on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. Sponsored by RI Department of Health, this free diabetes program is a group-based, evidence-based lifestyle change program to help reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes. The program consists of 16-group core sessions followed by once a month session for a year. Participants will reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes by losing weight through healthy eating; being more physically active; and learning to recognize and overcome barriers to healthy eating and physical activity. Hearing Loss & Older Adults will be discussed on Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. with the URI Pharmacy Outreach Program. Join this discussion about hearing loss – causes, options for treatments, helpful coping mechanisms and costs associated with hearing aid products.
Diabetes Educational Boot Camp for Seniors will be held on Nov. 2 when you can “learn more about diabetes self-management.” The session will run from 3 to 7 p.m. with a free dinner buffet included. This is a wonderful free event geared to teach seniors living with diabetes or pre-diabetes to learn more about diabetes self-management. This Boot Camp will feature speakers, resources, and healthy cooking demonstration to help seniors understand how you can improve your diabetes self-management, health outcomes and quality of life. On Oct. 21 there will be a Pasta Fest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Edgewood Congregational Church, located at 1788 Broad St. in Cranston. All proceeds directly benefit Defenders of Animals. There will be raffles and admission is $10 per person. Call 461-1922 for reservations.
The Cranston Historical Society is always so grateful to the good people of our city who allow us to borrow old pictures of Cranston schools, activities, businesses, parades, landscape photos, farm pictures, etc. that show Cranston's rich history, civics and industry. On Oct. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m., there will be a special event to raise funds for Friends of Homeless Animals at RI Dental Arts located at 115 Budlong Rd. A rewarding chance to get some early Holiday shopping in as you also get to help this rescue that thrives on helping all dogs in need regardless of age and health status. The more we raise the more we save. Hors d' oeuvres and beverages will be served.
