Washington Bank held a community Shred It Day in several Rhode Island communities on Oct. 20, which included their location on Reservoir Ave.

Participants could bring up to two boxes (maximum) per person to be shredded as they looked on. There was a steady flow of people bringing and having documents shredded.

The following was accepted: all paper, including invoices, timecards, contracts, tax returns, insurance records, legal documents, leases, computer printouts, customer lists, sales figures, sealed bids, statements, balance sheets, personnel records, newspapers, magazines, junk mail. Staples, rubber bands, folders, and paper clips did not need to be removed.

What was not eligible for shredding were food waste, paper plates or paper towels.
