The Cranston East and West basketball teams were in action during their holiday tournaments last week and enjoyed some big wins and performances along the way.
On the boys side, the West would get a pair of wins when it rolled past East Greenwich 44-30 and the rival Bolts 50-36. Adreyan Perez led the way for the Falcons in their win against East Greenwich by scoring 16 points, followed by captain Jaymien Aponte with 11. Noah Germain led West with 17 points against East while Aponte chipped in 10.
East was led by Drew Barionnette and Albert Kesse, who each finished with nine points against the Falcons. The Bolts fell to Johnston 60-48 the previous game and Barionnette and Kesse once again led the team in points scored, this time with 14.
The West girls beat rival East in a 71-49 decision. West’s Kyla Buco scored 20 points while captain Maia Riccio racked up 19. Sinayya Chase also scored 10 points for the Falcons while hauling in 14 rebounds.
Senior captain Mya Jiminez finished with 25 points for East.
The Bolts beat Prout 49-46 in double overtime in the first game of their holiday tournament. Jiminez was a force for East, finishing with 36 points.
