Burrillville High School hosted its annual cross country invitational last week and a number of local runners made noise as the teams get geared up for some of the biggest races of the year, as the Class Championships take place next weekend and then the state championships the week following at Ponaganset High School.
Here are some of the local results from the invitational:
BOYS
Cranston East finished in eighth place as a team while West took 11th overall.
East freshman Cohen Brinker finished ninth for the Bolts while Matthew Petit led West with a 13th place finish. Cameron Felici wrapped up 22nd for East, followed by West’s Elijah Curran in 42nd. Freshmen Aidan Gosselin and Levi Soch finished 50th and 51st, respectively, while West’s Henry Prendergast took 55th.
Nathan Gong placed 67th for the Bolts while teammate Travis Dureault took 79th, followed by West’s Nate Dorrance at 80th. Jose Mirabel finished 86th for West, while Angel Guzman took 92nd for East. West’s Ryan Stoloff cracked the top 100, finishing at 96 overall.
Ryan Capraro led Johnston, followed by teammates Brenton Lang and Logan Finelli.
GIRLS
West’s Lilliana Prendergast finished 12th to lead Cranston on the girls side, followed by teammate Talia Petit in 30th and East’s McKenzie Rose in 31st. Jessica Chin placed 37th for the Bolts, followed by teammate Caroline Brennick in 77th. Johnston was led by Amelia Healy.
