When you’re an organization that is 110 years old, and the building that houses you needs some TLC, you become creative in the fundraising area.
Luckily, the Oaklawn Grange has a great board and membership that is working tirelessly to keep the building standing.
In 1912, when the Grange membership reached 115, they purchased land, which is where the current building stands. The next year, construction started, and on May 26, 1914, the first meeting was held in the new hall.
Most recently, they held a Reclaimed and Refined Signs fundraiser.
“I am so pleased with the turnout. I posted to Facebook, put up a flyer at Panera, there are some teachers here and Grange members,” said member and event coordinator, Rachel McNally.
For the almost two dozen attendees, they had to preorder the type of project they wanted to do.
Choices included wood sizes and shapes to make the wave-boards. Other options included glass frames with unlimited template designs.
The Grange is raising money to finish the siding on the building.
The first two sides cost $35,000 and the second two sides will be about the same.
There are many more events planned in the upcoming months to help with the fundraising.
