Edgewood Church offers a monthly conversation the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM on timely topics of interest. Tuesday, April 9th, the topic is Living with Dying.
Here are some questions to think about; questions that make this topic relevant:
When did talking about death become so uncomfortable for us? Has it been since we thought our meat came from the grocery store on plastic platters wrapped in plastic? Or, since fish came filleted and without eyes?
Does our not talking about our own death add to our fear of death? And, does our fear of death keep us from living the last years of our lives fully, with joy, maybe even abandon?
When an article by Don Fowler about a funeral planning form prepared by Rev. Sterrett appeared in several area newspapers, the response was amazing. Over 25 people called Edgewood Church, asking to be sent the form. Almost all of them were connected to a faith community, yet even their faith community, apparently, was not talking about death. Are you?
Let’s talk about it!
