Locals shine for RIC track

Senior Trinity Hayes (Providence) finished first in both the 100m (12.45) and 200m (25.71) as the Rhode Island College women’s track and field team competed at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Samantha Sainristil (Cranston) finished second in the hammer (44.74m) and seventh in both the discus (33.94m) and the shot (10.72m).

Sophomore Bethanie Jean-Philippe (Cranston) finished second in the javelin (34.99m) and 24th in the long jump (3.95m).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Southern New Hampshire Invitational on Saturday, April 13.

Sophomore Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown) finished first in the hammer (53.15m) and 15th in the discus (29.27m) as the Rhode Island College men’s track and field team competed at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Freshman Gabriel Dosunmu (Providence) finished third in the 4x100m relay (44.12), fifth in the long jump (6.78m) and 10th in the 100m (11.37).

Sophomore Brandon Mota (West Warwick) finished second in the hammer (49.40m) and 26th in the shot (10.06m).

Freshman Will Schiller (Smithfield) finished third in the 4x100m relay (44.12), sixth in the 200m (22.92) and 15th in the 100m (11.54).

Freshman Trevor Morgan (Smithfield) finished fifth in the hammer (45.47m) and 21st in the discus (27.52m).

Senior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston) finished sixth in the hammer (45.44m) and 26th in the discus (24.52m).

Junior Garrett Jones (Beacon Falls, Conn.) finished eighth in the triple jump (12.46m) and 10th in the long jump (6.49m).

Sophomore Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown) finished 21st in the 800m (2:06.15).

Freshman Andrew Frezza (Johnston) finished 38th in the 1,500m (4:32.12) and 44th in the 800m (2:17.54).

Freshman Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence) finished 49th in the 800m (2:20.45).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Southern New Hampshire Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
