McCray, Gail (Concannon)

Gail (Concannon) McCray, 64, of Cranston, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Palazzini) Concannon.

Gail had a warm heart and a free spirit through and through. Family, including those who transcended bloodlines were what mattered most to her. Her greatest joy in life was the family she created. Her two daughters and one granddaughter were the lights of her life, and her purpose. She said on many occasions that being a Nonnie to Sidney was her greatest achievement in life. They were inseparable.

Gail was always up for a coffee, a belly-laugh until you cried, a good old-fashioned prank and an adventure. Her carefree get-up-and-go-without-notice spirit will be sorely missed with the heaviest of hearts. She was great for a random phone call and accompanying listening ear, or just sitting vigilant by your side. She was a helluva rummy player, phase-10 and cribbage player. She was also a bingo nut who was happiest when she shared her bingo passion with her girls and her friends. Gail was truly one-of-a-kind and there aren’t enough words to express the depth of the loss she leaves behind. She was a gentle, hilarious and loving soul who touched the hearts of everyone she met. As one of her all-time favorite songs says: “As we wind down the road our shadow's taller than our souls.”

Gail is survived by her two loving daughters, Mikala Watson, her husband Michael Cooney and their daughter Sidney; and Bea McCray. She also leaves her 6 siblings, Paula, Kevin, Craig, Kelly, Kathy, and Richard.

A Catholic funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 11 AM at St. James Church, Division St., Manville, RI. A celebration of life will follow at the Enrico Caruso Society, 105 Bouvier Ave., Manville, RI, from 12 to 5 PM. Please join us in honoring her life.
