Roundup: Devine tosses shutout

The Cranston East baseball team shut out Central thanks to another gem tossed by starting pitcher John Devine. Devine allowed no runs and struck out 12 batters. Armani Pimental scored the team’s lone run in the fifth inning.


North Kingstown 3, West 2

The Skippers edged the Falcons in a nine-inning affair on Monday. George Threats and Alex Milano each drove in runs for West while pitchers Ruben Cortorreal and Michael Parks combined for six strikeouts.


SOFTBALL

East 14, Central 4

The Bolts remained unbeaten and in first place with a big win over the Knights last week.

Isabella Sousa, Nevaeh Fatorma and Jaeda Viveiros all drove in multiple runs while Sousa picked up the win in the circle. She finished the day with eight striekouts.


West 8, Prout 5

Sofia Marella had a monster game at the plate for the Falcons in their win over Prout, finishing with three hits and five RBI while Emma Regine drove in another two runs. Mia Crudale got the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings and tossing five striekouts. 


BOYS VOLLEYBALL

West 3, Central 0

The Falcons stayed hot in Division II with a sweep over Central. Christian Mak and Christopher Harvey led the team with 10 kills each, while Mak recorded 17 assists and Harvey 16. Mike Sormanti led the Falcons on defense with eight digs.


BOYS LACROSSE

North Providence 13, East/Johnston 3

Jayden Chagnon led the Thundercats with two goals while Nick Benoit added another in their loss to North Providence. Goalie Alex Fedorchuk recorded 18 stops in the cage.
