Roundup: East gets back in win column

The Cranston East boys basketball team got back into the win column with a 49-48 win over East Greenwich on Monday night.
Albert Kesse led the way with 20 points to pace the East offense while Darien Peterson added 14. It was East’s second win of the winter as it improved to 2-8.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
MSC 51, East 29
The Lady Bolts are looking to snap their skid after dropping last week’s league game to the Mounties. Mya Jiminez led East with 13 points scored.

Bay View 49, West 32
The Falcons dropped a tough divisional matchup to the Bengals on the road last week. Maia Riccio led the Falcons with 10 points, followed by Kyla Buco with nine. Sinayya Chase hauled in seven rebounds for West in the loss.

BOYS HOCKEY
Portsmouth 4, Cranston 2
The Falcons are in a skid as they dropped a pair of games last week to extend their losing streak to three games. Justin Drohen and Devin Deangelis scored for Cranston. The team fell to Ponaganset 4-3 the previous game and was led by Drohen, who netted a pair of goals while Jack Fontaine scored another. Cranston fell to 3-5 overall.

WRESTLING
West 63, Chariho 15
The Falcons rolled past the Chargers last week. Zachary Jean Philippe pinned his opponent at 132 pounds while Mehki Araujo also pinned his opponent for the win.
Sam Naiefeh pinned his opponent in just 36 seconds at 150 pounds, while Henry Prendergast and Andrew Pappas also picked up wins by pin.
Michael Manzanillo won a 6-1 decision at 190 pounds, while Andrew Alchihed continues to impress coming back from injury, pinning his opponent in less than a minute at 215 pounds. Nate Reynolds then won by pin for West at heavyweight.
