Warwick’s Nate Jones releases new single, ’Safe As We Can’

Posted

When a musical act releases a single, it’s often a preview of what’s to follow.

That’s what Warwick’s own Nate Jones has in store with the new track “Safe As We Can,” which came out Aug. 12 via the Providence-based music firm Big Noise. It’s a grungy jam that has hints of melodic pop along with a combination of acoustic and electric guitars going along with the bass and drums.

Jones also played all the instruments himself, which is incredible. It’s a testament to his vast array of talents when it comes to writing a song.

On the meaning behind the single, Jones says: “‘Safe As We Can’ is a rock and roll anthem about the inner feeling of being so close to your dream and knowing you have to push through your fear to reach the greatness that lies on the other side. It’s a culmination of my journey as a professional musician. It represents the feelings that drive me and the adventures that continue to fuel my passion for life and music. My hope is that it will inspire others to do something bold with their lives. Live your truth and just be yourself.”

Accompanying the release is a music video that came out on the same date. Jones directed it with the assistance of videographer Nolan Keegan from the company Zeropod Productions. There’s a clash between black and white images and ones in color. There are also many different settings, including a practice space, being in the shower, a wall of graffiti and clips of Jones’ active lifestyle. A personal vibe is very evident in the video and it gives the song a deeper connection to the listener.

Jones has a ton of gigs happening for the rest of the summer and beyond, with his next show being at LineSider Brewing Company in East Greenwich on Aug. 23. He also drums in the Providence psychedelic rock act Neapolitan, which can be found on Facebook and Bandcamp.
