The kitchen at Cranston High School West has been undergoing a total transformation this summer and is just one of the capital improvement projects taking place in Cranston Public Schools facilities across the city this summer.
The full remodel includes the installation of new equipment, tiling, electrical work, drainage system improvements and painting, the last of which will include the walls of the cafeteria spaces.
The kitchen serves both cafeterias at Cranston West as well as for other schools in the district. The contractor for the project is TRAC and the equipment supplier is Kittredge Equipment.
“We’ve been working in here all summer and we are on schedule,” Cranston West foreman Randy Higham said. “The equipment that was here before was old and outdated. This new equipment is very efficient.”
Also included in the remodel is the redesign of what was formerly a walk-through space. It is now the location of a walk-in refrigerator and freezer, which are situated back-to-back and accessible on either end.
