The CLCF Chiefs had another stellar campaign this fall and saw two of its teams win Super Bowl titles. The 12-U and 11-U clubs each won their second state championships and advanced all the way to this past weekend’s New England Regional Championships at Bryant University.
Although the two teams fell to Springfield, they enjoyed big-time efforts at both the Rhode Island Super Bowls as well as the regional semifinals. The 12-U club finished the season with an 11-1 overall record while the 11’s finished 10-2. The 8-U and 9-U teams made Super Bowl appearances as well.
“Of our six teams, four of them were in the state finals, which is something to be proud of. CLCF is all Cranston kids, we’ve got great coaches and it’s a great organization. Great football was played. It should definitely provide some future hope for both Cranston East and West moving forward,” said CLCF 11’s coach Jeff Hamilton.
Luckily for the Chiefs, the 12’s and 11’s will return to action next fall for another season, and are hoping to learn from this year’s loss at regionals and to take one step forward.
“That was each team’s first time in the regional final, so hopefully they will learn and be even more prepared for next year,” said Hamilton.
