CME Credit Union congratulates winners of Student Logo Contest

Posted

CME Credit Union (CME CU) is pleased to announce and congratulate the winner of its brand/logo contest held with the Graphic Communications programs at Cranston West and Cranston East High Schools.

The first-place winner announced is Senior Aden Thorp from Cranston West.  Jenna Mansour, also from Cranston West, was recognized as the runner up to the contest.   President/CEO Mr. Brian Ducharme visited the school to congratulate the top two (2) concepts, and personally thank all of the students for participating in the competition, and sharing their creative ideas.

Back in the fall of 2023, students were asked to design a progressive, compelling and unique brand/logo that visually reflects the values, culture, and the experience CME CU strives to deliver to their members. The students submitted over twenty (20) compelling designs, which challenged the Credit Union’s Board, and Committee members to select just one.

Ms. Regina Hogan, educator at Cranston High School West, said the contest incorporated an in-depth design process, with students developing different ideas as they created their concepts.  They were guided by CME CU’s tag line of "Where Your Story Matters" and the Brand personality developed with their business partner, Pannos Marketing, Manchester, New Hampshire, (https://www.pannosmarketing.com/). The students also received coaching and encouragement from CVS’s Senior Designer Josh Weidenroth, who visited the classroom mid-project to provide direction with the concepts they were working on.

Mr. Ducharme said, "We wanted the redesign of our brand to not only tell our story in a way that would resonate with our long-time members, we wanted it to project a sense of inclusiveness to the greater Rhode Island Community, letting them know they are all within our circle of care and we are the place "Where Your Story Matters".  Aden’s design represents the essence of this and our credit union cooperative, where we support and help one another to successful. Aden says it best when describing the timelessness, totality, and infinity of her stunning design.”

"Thank you for choosing my logo, it was unexpected and greatly appreciated. It was awesome working with Pannos Marketing who has stepped in to make my design market ready. I really like what the logo became and look forward to the launch date." said contest winner Aden Thorp.

The new brand and logo will be on display at CME CU’s Annual Meeting on May 14th, to be held at Raddison Hotel, Warwick, RI.  The roll out of the brand/logo to the public is planned for the week of June 2, 2024.
