A TOAST TO 75 YEARS: Those looking to toast the celebration could find a glass of bubbly by coming across the woman hired by Fluxion Entertainment and wearing a stunning dress decorated with glasses of fresh sparkling wine.

Shake Shack’s General Manager Jackson Brown scooped treats to order with employee Mya Page.

FROZEN FREEBIES: Shake Shack and Pinkberry kept attendees cool on the warm summer day by offering free ice cream and frozen yogurt, respectively, to people passing by on the sidewalk. Pink Berry Assistant Manager Taylor Juskavitch and her employee Jordyn Renaud served the masses.

CONGRATULATIONS: Mayor Ken Hopkins congratulates General Manager of Garden City Joe Koechel on the shopping center’s 75 year’s of success.

DOLLS ON STAGE: Made up of Harlow, Verite and Eve, this group of pin-up performers from New York City took to the stage and stole some hearts. The Satin Dolls, a group of performers who travel the East Coast and are based in New York City, took the stage to entertain assembled viewers. The group is made up of Harlow, Verite and Eve Satil Dolls, Harlow, Verite, and Eve music group out of NYC but work up and down east coast

We know, it’s a mouthful, but it means a 75th anniversary, and in commemoration of its 75th anniversary this year, Garden City held a birthday celebration August 26 with the main festivities being an outdoor block party where businesses that call the shopping center home brought free samples, games and prizes outside to show off while a variety of entertainment was provided from different acts and performers throughout the day.

The day included free ice cream, steel drum music, a visit from a traveling Grey Sail Brewing truck and even a visit from Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins. Garden City has been honoring its 75 years of history all year with a packed schedule of events and surprises for those who frequent the shopping center, and they aren’t done yet. Keep an eye out on their website for upcoming events, gardencitycenter.com/events, such as this weekend’s coming beer garden at Avvio Ristorante featuring Grey Sail Brewing. These beer gardens will happen over the course of the next four weekends and will each focus on showcasing a different breweries offerings. (Photos by Steve Popiel)
