Local Tricks & Treats: what’s happening around the area pre-Halloween weekend

Posted

It’s less than a week away and before you know it, people are going to be dressed up in their favorite costumes. Kids will be walking the streets accompanied by their parents looking for the house with the best candy and the adventurous ones are going to be doing some ghost hunting in haunted places. That’s right everybody, Halloween is upon us and with it happening on a Tuesday this year, there’s going to be a ton of fun things going on in the days leading up to it. This especially means this coming weekend with a few establishments in Cranston, Warwick and Johnston ringing in the spooky festivities. For all the information on what’s taking place, here are five events you shouldn’t miss out on.

PVD Horror’s Rock The Dead Part 2
October 27 @ Buttonwoods Brewery
530 Wellington Avenue Cranston
6pm 21+ Free

Riding off the success of last year’s debut edition, the folks at PVD Horror are putting on the second “Rock The Dead” at Buttonwoods Brewery. It’s a Halloween karaoke party so be prepared to do some singing when you arrive. Costumes are obviously encouraged and there will be prizes for best costume and best performance that’ll be awarded during the evening.

Royal Flush Comedy
October 27 @ Pub On Park
655 Park Avenue Cranston
8pm 21+ $25

For those looking to have some laughs, a stacked night of stand-up is going to be taking place at Pub On Park. Ace Aceto, who has been doing comedy for over 30 years, is presenting the show and he’s also going to be performing at it. Joining him will be Rob Pierce, Johnny Rotten (not the punk rock musician), Claudia Stavola and Scott Higgins to round out the full deck of a lineup that’s chock full of talent.

Proclamation’s  Halloween Party
October 28 @ Proclamation Ale Company
272 Kilvert Street Warwick
7pm 21+ Free

To close out a weeklong celebration featuring numerous events, there’s going to be a Halloween Party taking place at Proclamation on Saturday. This party will feature music being spun by DJ Indigo Monday, special brews on tap and delicious food courtesy of Rogue on the Rhode. For all the details on the other things they have going on this week, check out the events page on their website at proclamationaleco.com.

Ollie’s Halloween Costume Party
October 28 @ Ollie’s Pub
941 West Shore Road Warwick
8pm 21+ Free

It should be expected that Halloween costume parties will be a common theme this weekend, but each one will be a bit different than the other. For example, the one going down at Ollie’s has the dynamic cover band 3 Wheelin’ performing at their party and they’re giving out $50 gift cards to the best female and male costumes. The place also has a fantastic array of food available to indulge in so show up hungry.

Escada’s Halloween Costume Party
October 28 @ Escada Restaurant & Bar
39 Putnam Pike Johnston
7pm 21+ Free

Over in Johnston, there’s another cool costume party going down at Escada. The Providence pop, rock and country cover act Nothing Personal will be performing a variety of tunes and a lot of folks are going to be dressed up as all sorts of characters. It’s an event the staff at the establishment looks forward to every year, so stop by and see what all the fuss is about.
