1070 Cranston St.401-780-6000 Are you finding it hard to come up with New Year's resolutions this year? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are you feeling limited in what you can do?

We need to be optimistic and hopeful. The simple act of making a New Year’s resolution can be both hopeful and an engaging activity. It helps us think positively about the future and makes a promise to ourselves to do better. Resolutions are basically goals that we set for ourselves.

Here are some common New Year’s resolutions that you might consider that are safe during the pandemic:

* Exercise more, whether at home with virtual classes or at our center when classes are again in-person.

* Check in with family, friends and neighbors more often – find ways to stay connected, such as phone calls, writing letters, video calls. That will keep you socially engaged.

* Get outdoors when the weather permits – go for walks.

* Eat healthier. Plan your meals ahead of time, and take a virtual cooking class.

If you are on the internet, check out free virtual classes through “Age Friendly Rhode Island” or AARP. Go to our senior center website, Facebook and Twitter to see what in-person activities and classes are available.

Stay safe, healthy and hopeful!
