Warwick Symphony opens season with ‘Colors of the Orchestra’

The Warwick Symphony Orchestra (WSO) will stage “The Colors of the Orchestra” Sunday, December 3rd at 3 p.m. in St. Bernard Church in North Kingstown.

The concert includes  both classical and more contemporary holiday works.

The program includes  “Concerto Grosso, Op 6 No 8” by Arcangelo Corelli, “Festive Fanfare” by Brian Balmages, “L’adoration du St. Sepulere” by Sigismund Neukomm, “Rocket Sleigh” by Delvyn Case and “The Bells of Christmas,” arranged by Bob Krogstad.

Soloists are  Concertmaster Gia Antonelli and Ann Danis playing the violin, Emily Johnston playing the cello, Kaleigh Cipoletta on the flute, Xander Wilkinson on the oboe and Robert Nanna playing the clarinet.

Tickets will be available at the door, with general admission costing $20, tickets for seniors and students costing  are $15, and children under 12 having free admittance. Tickets can also be purchased ahead of time on WSOri.org starting on Nov. 1.

The WSO is a non-profit regional orchestra that was founded in 1966 to provide a musical outlet and an opportunity for students in Warwick Public Schools. Their membership runs the gamut of ages from teenagers to seniors, and is always accepting new members.
